“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.” - Abraham Maslow
Who She Is:
Sangeeta (Sun-gee-tha) is a dedicated psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Drawing on her experience in both hospital and private practice settings, she recognizes that each person is unique, shaped by their own experiences and background. Sangeeta tailors her therapeutic approach to meet each client’s specific needs, fostering a collaborative, compassionate, and empowering environment for growth and healing.
What to Expect in Therapy:
In my practice, I view therapy as a collaborative journey where we work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. I strive to bring my authentic self to each session, fostering a warm and encouraging space that promotes open communication and trust. I recognize that choosing to begin therapy can feel daunting, and I deeply admire the courage it takes to embark on the path of self-discovery and healing. In sessions with me, you can expect a compassionate and empowering approach rooted in empathy, evidence-based practices, and a deep respect for your individuality. My goal is to help you build resilience, develop meaningful coping tools, and create lasting change. At a pace that feels right for you.
Who She Works With:
She works with adults and teens navigating a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, work-related stress, self-esteem, trauma, relationship issues, racial identity, stress management, peer relationships, and coping skills. With a passion for advocating for underserved communities, She will emphasize the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals who may not have traditionally sought mental health support.
My theoretical approach is eclectic, drawing from psychodynamic principles, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), and solution-focused techniques. This flexibility allows me to tailor my methods to the unique needs of each client. I am passionate about working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and committed to supporting them in achieving their therapeutic goals, guiding them toward personal growth, self-discovery, and lasting change.
